The flood

While in Benidorm, Spain, there were two days of heavy rain and thunder storms. It was during the same time that there was a tsunami in vietnam, typhoon in the philipines and a tsunami warning in new zealand. When first arriving at Alicante airport, I heard that there had not been much rain at all for around 4 months.

After a heavy storm, the road next to the apartment complex (which I had previously said looked like a storm drain) flooded. This road leads onto a main street close to the beach where there were piles of sand deposited by the flood water for a week after the flood. Locals told us that there had been more rain in that period of time since 2007.

Last time I was in spain I was sitting on the balcony watching the clouds form over the sea. Over a half our period I was amazed to see a tornado form on the beach front. Being from the uk and never seeing much serious weather I didn’t know if to take photos or shut the balcony doors and hide inside. So I stood on the balcony with a vodka and pepsi taking photos of the tornado forming.

On the second day of the storms, the water had seeped into the apartment block next to us within the same complex and a section of the plaster fell from the side of the building and hit the floor below. Thankfully it was early in the morning and no one was around when it happened.
