Hong Kong, not UK

Hong Kong, not UK

When I came to the Philippines, my initial plan was to stay as long as I could setting up a home and then go back to the UK for a week, then returning to the Philippines. This would allow me to enter under a new visa and stay in the Philippines while I continued setting up my business and eventually got my business visa.

However, a flight to the UK will cost around £2000 for myself and my girlfriend, but a weekend in Hong Kong will cost just £500 for us both. Plus, when I return to the Philippines from Hong Kong, I will be able to enter using my British passport which will give me a new visa.

At the moment, I simply can not afford the extra £1500 it would cost to fly to the UK, not to mention the spending money we would need for a week.

I will be flying back to the uk at some point, but just not yet. I am sorry for any disappointment, but god damn it it would take a whole day to get to the UK and you know how much I hate travelling anywhere!

Final week in the UK

As another week begins, I realize that it is my final week in the uk.

In just 7 days, I will be on a British Airways flight between Heathrow and Hong Kong, en route to Manila.

I have spent the previous week saying goodbye to most of my friends. The remaining friends are yet to contact me or reply. Funny how some things show who your real friends are.

Well, I guess this is it. The countdown is upon me and I am rushing to get everything completed before I have to leave for the airport.

Flying to Manila, Philippines

Flying to Manila, Philippines

Here are the flight details for my flight to Manila in the Philippines. I start my taking off from Newcastle Airport (NCL) at 15:05 local time on 6th March 2010 and I land in Manila (MNL) at 18:50 local time on 7th March 2010.

I will be making a post for every flight I will be on, showing a google earth map of the location, so stay tuned on the 6th and 7th of March. I am very excited to be going to see my girlfriend. I am looking forward to the flight as I have always wanted to be a passenger on a British Airways flight, plus I have not yet flown on a Boeing 747-400. I am not keen on the Airbus A320, but I will only be on it from Newcastle to London.

The circumfrance of the earth at the equator is 40,075 km and I will be traveling 11,175 km from Newcatle to Manila. That’s 28% of the earth’s circumference that I will be travelling!

In the past I have been on many flights to Spain, Yugoslavia and many other European countries. I have never been on a long haul flight. The thought of over 12 hours without a cigarette scares the hell out of me. I may need some gum to take the edge off it like some heroin junkie!
